AUGUST HIGHLIGHT REEL:

1 | Eulalie turned one month old on August 10th...fastest month ever.

2 | Brad turned 29 on August 19th. He was working the entire b-day weekend, but we surprised him at work with handmade cards and birthday cake (that Pier helped mama bake!)

3 | Brad and I got to go on not one, but TWO dates this month thanks to the grandparents

4 | My in-laws came to visit Indiana to meet their newest grandchild

5 | We survived our first family of four road trip to Louisiana (!!!)

6 | We checked off the Indiana State Fair off of our Midwest bucket list. Pier rode a pretend Lil Sebastian and wasn't excited about it (but mama loved it because, memories. And what kid doesn't want to ride a pony?)

7 | Brad started interviewing for post-residency jobs in Louisiana (surreal!!!)

8 | Eulalie started giving us big smiles and laughs in her sleep.

9 | We took the kids to their first baseball game and Pier LOVED it.

10 | Gertie still isn't used to being outnumbered by tiny people, but I know she'll eventually love Eulalie as much as she loves Pier (...lol...)

11 | I took a social media and (unintended) blogging break. I felt like I needed to refocus and refresh and I think it's going to be a regular thing! It helped me prioritize the important things...prayer, playing with my kids, and being faithful to my household responsibilities. I highly recommend fasting from technology every now and then!

I was going through the photos on my phone and realized I never posted these from when my parents were in town. They're really cute and I miss them a lot, so of course they need to be shared! Also, my dad informed me that he's never made an appearance on my blog, so Dad, this one is for you ;).

I've mentioned that my mom came into town before having the baby to help out. She ended up staying an entire month until my dad drove to Indiana to bring her back home. I don't think I will ever be able to repay my parents for the help they gave our family during the eventful transition from one to two kids. My mom became my second set of hands as she pampered me -- cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking, and playing with Pier. Let me tell you, the woman has a heart of gold. She's full of gentleness, thoughtfulness, and grace. She is also a big kid in the best way and I loved watching her creativity take hold as she played with her grandchildren. She made him a puppet show and a play house out of all the Amazon Prime cardboard boxes in our garage. The stuff she comes up with!

Seeing my dad meet Eulalie for the first time was so sweet. Watching that manly man become a big softie whenever his grandchildren enter the room just makes my heart melt. That little girl already has him wrapped around her tiny finger! We miss them both so much. Even though it's been almost two weeks since they left, Pier still asks where Kimmie and Pepere went every morning. He loves his grandparents (almost as much as he loves flowers ;)). We're doubly lucky to have my in-laws coming into town this weekend to meet Eulalie so I know he's going to have a blast with Annie and Papa too. Family is everything to us, and I'm just really grateful to have four people in our lives who love my children as much as I do.

Indiana has been wooing me with the weather this week. It's sunny and 75 with a slight breeze. IN AUGUST. Weather like that just begs me to play outside! That's exactly what our family did over the weekend when Brad wasn't working. Here is an outfit from our little family picnic in the park (we ended up throwing the frisbee in a field...which explains why my outfit looks a little disheveled in some photos ;)). I love the simplicity of this outfit. Not to mention, it's comfortable, my favorite color combo, and reminiscent of Maria Von Trapp -- what's not to love, right?

Hello friends! Here's my first outfit post in my ethical fashion series. I'm just a little excited about these and, from the encouraging feedback I've gotten, it seems like you are too. Thank y'all for being so kind and playing along. Talking about clothes will forever be a guilty pleasure of my girly-girl heart!

Without further ado, here's outfit number one:

Dressing a body postpartum isn't always easy, but I think it helps to put on real clothes and a splash of makeup to help you feel like yourself again. It's equally important to be gentle on your body and accept your changing shape as it is -- excess weight, cellulite, stretch marks and all. You just pushed a baby out of your pelvis, remember? I'm doing my best to change my thinking by turning those body image negatives into beauty marks. God created us to bring a new soul into the world, and that is a remarkable task that should be celebrated.

This is an outfit that makes me feel beautiful in my postpartum state and it's become a staple in my summer wardrobe. . My dress is from a newfound favorite, Pyne and Smith. Each dress is made entirely from linen (my fabric crush!) and is hand sewn in California. I love it not only because it is beautifully made, but also for its versatility. What looks like a skirt and shirt is actually a dress worn with a cropped top. Wearing shirts over dresses is a favorite style secret of mine in order to add variety in a capsule wardrobe. This dress has a "sisterhood of the traveling pants" quality... I wore it constantly during my pregnancy in the warmer temperatures (still fitting into it in month 9!) AND it has buttons which makes it nursing friendly. It's also the perfect dress for postpartum because it's not tight, making it comfortable and camouflaging. Basically it's magic and it's been on repeat over here during the last few weeks!
